This faceted search option allows you to view methods terms that are related to your Search Result set that fall under the key headers that are displayed (e.g. Concepts & philosophies, Literature review). Expand these top-level headers to review the terms that you can add as a filter to your result set.
• Related Lists
If there are publically available SRMO Lists on the site that relate to your Search Results these will be displayed beneath the “Refine by Methods Map terms” section. Select one of these list titles to click through and see the full list that was created by one of the members of our SRMO community.
The Methods Map on SRMO is a visual representation of the inter-relationships and overlaps between the many different methods, theories and techniques used in social research. You can use it to locate a given technique, theory or method in its relationship to other approaches and as a way of reaching content from the books and journals that make up SRMO. To do this, simply click on a term in the map and ask SRMO to ‘search this term’.
The Methods Map has been constructed by the editorial department at SAGE in tandem with the advice of a number of leading academic methodologists from around world. The terms that populate it were generated from the contents lists of the books that together make up SRMO’s contents.
We think the Methods Map provides a good broad overview of the general field of Research Methods, but we are aware that the it is not perfect and in some areas we have had to over-simplify the field of Research Methods to create the map. That has meant over-simplifying some very complex and subtle interrelationships and overlaps between different terms.
We are also aware that there are many methodological terms that are missing from the Methods Map. We have always tried to select the most significant terms for inclusion, but it has not been possible to include every single methodological term in present use in the map in its present form.
We hope you find the map useful and would like to hear your feedback along with any suggestions you have to help us improve and develop it in the coming years. Please Contact Us at SAGE or write to us on our blog.
6. SRMO Lists
SRMO Lists are like playlists for books and articles. Lists provide a way for you to gather content on a specific topic or for a particular purpose, to group your favorites into collections, and to share those collections with other SRMO members if you choose to. You can make private lists if you wish, or you can make lists that anyone can see.
There are three types of SRMO List:
- Private Lists are lists by SRMO members which they have elected not to share. No one else will be able to see your list if you choose to keep it private - this is the default setting for all SRMO Lists.
- Public Lists are lists which SRMO members have chosen to make public. View all public SRMO Lists <Link to http://srmo-staging.ifactory.cin/browselists >. Users who do not have subscriber access will not be able to make their lists public.
- SAGE Author Lists are lists created by SAGE authors. View SAGE Author Lists <Link to http://srmo-staging.ifactory.com/browselists?sage=true>
